There are no twists, no fusion, and no short-cuts at ARTUSI Ristorante, the two Italian fine dining restaurants located in Delhi and in Gurgaon. The restaurants’ single-minded objective is simple: Serve the best Italian food! The cuisine in both restaurants is not just authentic Italian, its authenticity is specific to a single region in Italy, a region called Emilia-Romagna with its capital Bologna. The Italian owners and chef hail from the Emilia Romagna region and they consistently focus on what they truly love and do best: rigorous selection of highest quality imported products, and insistence that all food items are prepared in-house and exclusively made by hand.

I recently dined at the horizon center location based in Golf course road,Gurgaon and was delighted to see the decor and the huge seating space that the restaurant provided. The surroundings and the ambience are distinctly different from the restaurant in Delhi. But, the food, the menu, the ingredients, the food preparations and the service standards are identical. We tried the following from the tasting menu specially curated for us.

  • Leaks quiche (amuse bouche)
  • Ferro Salad
  • Gluten-free thin noodles with Tartufo butter and  Halfmoon shaped pasta filled with Buratta set in a Calamari and cherry tomato sauce.
  • Melanzana Parmigiana  (Baked dish with eggplant, cheese, tomato)
  • Risoto mushroom
  • Salmone fillet

The food is exquisite. For a delicious and authentic Italian fare this is the place. Right from the delicious salads, pastas, risottos to the most extensive collection of exquisite Italian wines, and some amazing cocktails, everything is so maginificient. The ambiance with it’s classy decor is a treat to have a great fine dine experience. I was floored with what I saw and tasted. It is a great place to dine in with family and friends and enjoy great italian food with a great courteous staff always ready to serve you.

For desserts we tried the Dark Chocolate Mousse with Orange peel and coulis.

and the Panna Cotta with caramel and almonds

About Mr Pellegrino Artusi

The Emilia Romagna region is the native land of Mister Pellegrino Artusi who has been the inspiration for naming the restaurant as well as many signature dishes at ARTUSI. Pellegrino Artusi is considered the founder of the Italian cuisine. In 1891 he authored a book called “La Scienza in Cucina e l’Arte di mangier bene” (Science in the Kitchen and The Art of Eating well). This seminal work was the first Italian cookbook that had been written in Italian language and rapidly became a cornerstone of modern Italian cuisine and has remained a global reference point for Italian chefs up until today.

About the ARTUSI Ristorante MENU

A visit to the kitchen reveals that there truly are a lot of people working in here. Pasta dishes are made in-house, and completely by hand, in the old artisanal way. There is a separate temperature controlled room solely dedicated for the creation of pasta dishes which is called ‘The Lab’. To make perfect Tortellini one needs talent, experience, dedication, a professional environment and simply a lot time, they say at ARTUSI Ristorante.

The menu includes a wide range of home-made pastas: Gnocchi (made of potatoes only), Strozzapeti (an artisanal and rustic pasta made with flour only without eggs), Chitarra (square handmade spaghetti), and a series of artfully shaped of pasta pockets like Tortellino (round-shaped), Raviolo (square-shaped) and Cappelletto (hat-shaped), as well as noodles that vary in size from very thin ones Angel Hair to very broad ones Pappardelle.

But before that, savour the selection of antipasti, soups and chef’s salad selection. Premium cured meats that include Prosciuto di Parma that has been aged for eighteen months, Coppa, Mortadella and Salame. The salads are true season’s delights. Rucola e Carciofi – an Arugula and artichoke salad finished with pecorino cheese and lemon dressing is light and very refreshing.

If it is meats or seafood that tempt you – it is tough to make a decision from a selection that ranges from Filettino di Coppa (premium quality imported pork fillet) onto premium quality imported lobster, crab, scallops and fine salmon.

Life is beautiful when the meal ends with Italian desserts and a fine espresso. The Panna Cotta ai Fichi e le Mandorle and is the Artusi Ristorante signature dessert.  The sinful variety includes classics like Tiramisu, but also new dessert creations, as well as outstanding homemade gelato in exotic flavours.
